Pontchairtrain Hotel Wedding | New Orleans Wedding Photographer | Julia + Theo

Being a New Orleans wedding photographer, I see plenty of funky weddings full of color and life, but this wedding takes the cake! When I arrived at Hotel Peter and Paul, where the wedding party was getting ready, everyone was sipping on mimosas with blueberries and laughing. In the rooms, the final touches to the bride’s jumpsuit and headdress were being put together while the groom’s suit was getting steamed. Nothing about this wedding followed tradition as this laid back couple chose to get ready together and skip the hype of a first look. Once everything was perfect, we took off to the Pontchartrain Hotel.

At the hotel, the staff was buzzing about setting up a fury of balloon installations and rainbow details. I asked a staff member if they had ever seen this room more colorful, and he said “The only time I have seen more color in the room was when Ashley Longshore threw a party here!”

Instead of being introduced formally as “Mr and Mrs” to their reception, they were escorted individually by drag queens while a song by Alaska the drag queen (best known for being the runner up on Season 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race) was played through the speakers.

The Reception started with Drag performances by Gia Giovanni and Coca Mesa who got the whole crowd involved. As soon as the performances stopped, the dance party started!
